I saw so many people raving about this place thought I would try it out. After reading some of the most recent reviews I totally agree. This place is no longer worth the 5 stars so many had given in the past. My dog had something up his nose so I called and asked how much it would be to get it out. The girl on the phone said $29 for the visit if needed $75 for the anesthesia. Well I get there an go through the whole rigmarole of waiting 15 minutes to my dogs temperature taken then another 15 minutes waiting for the Vet who does nothing more than using a stethoscope to listen to my dogs heart or breathing which took all of 5 seconds. He did not even look at the dogs nose and he says we have to put the dog under to look in his nose. And he will have someone else bring in an estimate of fees. So again I am waiting. The next person tells me it will be over $200. I ask him for to explain. He goes over the charges and says there is an additional charge to look in the dogs nose of $100. I tell him that I have had this done before and it was only $100 total. He tries to explain that prices have increased and he is just here to explain the prices. When he can not explain the $100 fee for looking in the dogs nose he goes and gets the vet. Too which the vet said take your dog somewhere else then. I ask him how he feels price gouging customers. He then tells his me to leave and threatens to have his assistant call 911.

Got both my cats fixed there good price and nice people.

We usually go to American Vet in Ceres, Ca - and they are awesome. The Doctor was out of town and referred us to the Modesto Animal Medical Center. 1st - the office staff did not request our records from American Vet as she said she would when I made the appointment in the morning so the Dr. did not have them when we arrived for the late afternoon appointment. 2nd - the Dr. was OK. She was the only somewhat positive part of the visit. But her decision explained in the next item changed my view of her. 3rd - our apt. was for our beloved 7.5 Lb. 11 year old Chihuahua dog who had been having a problem similar to a few years back. The Dr. recommended a variety of medications to resolve the problem You would think that an intelligent Dr. would know that a small, Chihuahua dog who is missing half his teeth would know to NOT prescribe pills but instead send me home with liquid medication. Guess again. It did not dawn on me until I got home that something was wrong. I have NEVER been given pills for our dog - only liquid. Never had to ask for liquid with the other vets - they just knew it was necessary. It would be like giving a newborn pills. I spent nearly $100 for the RX's and was very unhappy that I had to give him this medication in pill form. This is not an easy task for such a small, finicky dog. They would not own their professional misjudgment and replace the pills with liquid. I personally think they did not have liquid and instead of discussing the options with me they just gave me pills. So BEWARE - they are not truly concerned about the well being of your pet. Who knows what other type of decisions they make that are not in the best interest of your pet and you may not even know it - after all, they are supposed to be the experts and one you can trust. Right? Think again.

I see this Clinic has gotten some bad reviews lately. I want to chime in and say that the number of times I've been to this Clinic, I've had nothing but the best of service. They are very professional in everything they do. Keep up the good work.

I brought my 10 yr old cat in for some pretty serious symptoms that I was told seemed a lot like FIP which is a very deadly virus that will take your cats life in a week. Blood work was done that day as well as fluid injection, antibiotic injection and antibiotic to take home. I was told the results of blood work would be in the next morning. I get a call the next morning with them telling me I need to bring my cat back in so they can get a urine sample because they were unable to the day before (nothing was mentioned about this the day before) and of course I asked if the blood work came back and I was told no. When I went to the office for my cats urine sample i asked if they could call the lab to put a rush on the results since this could be life or death for my cat. I was told we don't want to rush the lab and just keep trying to feed my cat (she threw up everything). That evening before closing I called again and still no results. I knew this was an urgent situation so I called sylvan veterinary the next morning to get a second option and see if we could put a game plan on motion. While i was there with my cat the sylvan vet called American animal hospital and what a surprise! The blood work results were there! Who know how long they were in and no one felt the urgency to contact me right away! THEY STILL HAVENT CONTACTED ME! Thank God sylvan acted quick and was able to give my cat the treatment needed to save her life because she did indeed have a borderline case of corona and FIP virus. The antibiotic that I was previously given causes nausea and is not recommended for the viruses my cat had so it was keeping her from eating! My cat is on her road to recovery now and I am hopeful but it is scary to me to think about other people pets that could die because American animal Hospital dropped the ball.
